The Summilux is a standard or wide-angle lens for M mount cameras with an f1.4 aperture, while Elmar became synonymous with f3.5. Like these iconic lenses, the company introduces Elmarit, which has been specifically designed for the S and the SL mount. Growing its portfolio, Leica has announced today its fourth SL in the Elmarit system, the Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 28–70 f2.8 ASPH. Let's have a look.

By Nilofer Khan

June 12, 2025

Whether one lives to accept it or not, the photo industry has hit a plateau. Today, we have the best of the best cameras, lenses, nd lighting equipment available, something that we didn't imagine a decade or two ago. From a compact medium format camera to the ability to shoot in different resolutions and formats, we are able to capture some of the most detailed images our forefathers could have only dreamt of. Yet, the advancement has also met with the rising prices, with many photographers craving simpler times where it was just you and your small, simple camera. While we enjoy the return of the heyday with retro cameras, we also believe it is about the right time to reintroduce twin-lens reflex cameras, which are an ode to a different style of photography.

Is Street Photography Collaboration or Documentary?

By Chris Gampat

June 12, 2025

If you take someone's portrait, it's very well understood that you're collaborating with that person. Today's content creators often just shoot at 20 frames a second while a model moves in front of there camera. But if you're a real photographer, you're typically involved in the creative process's pre-production and direction. The same can be said for taking a simple family portrait as there is interaction between you and the heroes of the photographs. But is that any different with street photography?

By Nilofer Khan

June 11, 2025

Fujifilm has been having a great year so far. The company has launched two cameras, their sales have been quite successful last year, and more photographers are looking to shift to their medium format cameras. Your Lenses are More Important Than Your Camera

By Chris Gampat

June 11, 2025

For over 15 years, the Phoblographer has been saying a very important thing: your lenses are more important than your camera. To this day, we continue to test new lenses on old cameras to give photographers an idea of what it's like to use them with older bodies with full understanding that not everyone wants to buy new cameras every two years. And it's a statement that we still stand by. Over a decade ago, lens manufacturers told us that the lifespan of lenses are going to get shorter and shorter. But the truth is that that's not really the case. Older lenses still render beautiful images on newer cameras even though they might not resolve as much detail. And honestly, considering the retro-digital look, we're inclined to say, "Who cares?"
