When Sony introduced its mirrorless camera back in 2012, the industry wondered why they would leave behind a highly successful market. The company foresaw the future before anyone and they continue to reap its rewards even today. However, while its mirrorless segment is doing much better than most, it appears that the company may shift gears again. This time, with a medium format. Have a look.

The Lie About Sharper Lenses

The Lie About Sharper Lenses

For several years now, I've been saying over and over again that no one really needs sharper lenses. But consumerism has thought otherwise when post-production and in-camera processes can change things for you. And in 2026, I think that my statements have been more true than ever. Truthfully, we've all been sold the lie about sharper lenses.

Can Digital Really Remake the Magic of the Pentax 67?

The Pentax 67 is a very special camera. It's been enjoyed by several photographers over the years, especially as they continue to endure. We've even rated it amongst some of our favorite medium format cameras. And part of what makes it so special is the ease of use -- there are no film backs to work with. There are also those incredible lenses. As time as gone on, you could simply just pick one of these cameras up and shoot with one. Based on our review, we'd recommend it. But we can also tell you how the get the same look.

Is the OM System OM1 Still a Good Fun Camera in 2026?

A while back, I was saying that no one is making a bad camera. In fact, I was saying that since the early 2010s. I also have been saying for the past few years that all the newer cameras coming out don't really have a good reason for many people to buy them. One of those cameras is the OM System OM1 -- the first camera that OM System put out after the separation from Olympus. Much of it had changed from the previous company. And while it's very capable and even has computational tech inside that makes it stand out, much of those things can be done by other cameras.

"Yo, the Nikon Zf is a beast at sports photography," is what I texted the Phoblographer's staff after getting home from a soccer game and using the camera along with the 7Artisans 135mm f1.8 lens. We published our review a while ago, and now we're announcing our update to it along with the new firmware that has been released for the lens. That opening statement alone is something that will set the tone for the rest of the review.

The Yashica Funtastic is a Better Kodak Charmera (Hello Kitty Edition)

The Yashica Funtastic is a Better Kodak Charmera (Hello Kitty Edition)

When the Yashica Funtastic was announced, I asked our team who wanted to review it. But before they could respond, I went and bought the camera myself -- specifically in the Hello Kitty edition. Why? Well, if you look at it primarily as a camera, then you're missing the point. Similar to the Kodak Charmera, this camera is a much more affordable version of the higher end cameras. When Sabrina Carpenter uses her Contax, it's a toy to her to enhance her fun. With nowhere near her resources, the Yashica Funtastic is a similar thing for the rest of us who didn't get mommy and daddy's money or that didn't have great foundations for Maslow's hierarchy of needs. I could, and should finish this review right here. But I'm not.
