Can This Lens Filter Save Photographers from Generative AI?
By Chris Gampat
July 15, 2025
The other day, I had a conversation with a friend who told me all about how AI has been causing havoc in her life. Essentially, it acted like an untrained intern who doesn't know any better but is given an absurd amount of responsibility. So the AI started to do things that my friend didn't want to do. Make no mistake, AI is scaring everyone these days -- especially as so many are giving up their humanity in the smallest of ways. But today, PolarPro is introducing something that I'm probably going to call my favorite lens filter of 2025. It's called the PolarPro Warp filter. By far, one of the coolest filters I’ve ever tested. It even feels really well built in every single way.

PolarPro has recently launched a new filter that gives you abstract images, so let's have a look whether it is great enough to be added to our list.

I Hacked the Best Softbox for Speedlights
By Chris Gampat
July 15, 2025
A little over a decade ago, I reviewed the Roundflash Beauty Dish. This product has stayed in my gear kit for a very long time. However, in the past few years, I stopped using speedlights and instead just carry around my Profoto B10. However, at times I want a small softbox and so I'd use an ExpoImaging Rogue Flashbender. However, I finally decided to find a way to make my best softbox work for my Profoto B10.

Why Canon’s 2025 RF Lens Roadmap Just Got a Lot More Interesting

Canon's EF lens lineup has been nothing short of innovative. The company has created some spectacular master pieces such as Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8L IS II USM, EF 24-70mm f2.8L II USM, and EF 400mm f2.8L IS II USM. With the company's move to mirrorless, we really have not seen too many new lenses, but there is always the promise of Canon launching something different every year. It has now come to our attention that the manufacturer is working on a new zoom lens, which could showcase Canon's commitment to its loyal customers.

The Rise of China in the Photography World
By Chris Gampat
July 15, 2025
Tariffs aren't the only reason why China has been doing so well in the photography world as of late. You see, if you ask many more traditional photographers, the Chinese are simply copying what the Japanese have done. But if you go back even further, the Japanese copied Germany and America. In the end, they're all the same because they're simply just going after money. But Japanese manufacturers tend to make many products in China and then raise the prices. In China, however, similar quality products are made by China-based manufacturers and the prices are kept down. So why can't Japan keep their prices down too?

Portrait photographers will have a blast with our presets made from the ground up for your favorite camera brands. Our presets are designed to make editing a minimal task so you can get back to shooting! We're in love with Retro Digital. Luckily, that's when we founded the website closer to two decades ago. So we dove into our image archives, looked at how the Adobe Gurus were telling us how to edit, and adapted those methods to create our Retro Digital Lightroom Presets and Capture One Styles. These are in addition to the popular Photojournalism presets that we released a while back.

These are the Best Lenses for Night Photography
By Chris Gampat
July 14, 2025
You'd probably think that any lens with a fast aperture is great for night photography, right? Well, you're not wrong. Some lenses are objectively better than others if you don't plan on bringing a tripod with you. And most people who own cameras don't ever plan on bringing a tripod of some sort with them. Instead, they opt to do everything handheld to keep things light. Most importantly, they're often going to reach for a small prime lens. Lucky for us, even telephoto lenses can be small these days. But wide-angle lenses are the absolute best for night photography.
