The Thing Every Experienced Wildlife Photographer Needs
By Chris Gampat
August 14, 2025
If you're a wildlife photographer, we both know that you've worked really hard on the images that you make. Some are honestly much better than others -- and we shouldn't necessarily base that on how Instagram followers are rating it. We all have those one or two images that we're truly in love with, but others aren't. Sometimes, you end up capturing a moment that's rarely otherwise seen. These are the images that matter the most -- they're part of what makes you unique as a photographer. Look around on eBay, Etsy, and other places -- you'll find that these prints go for hundreds of dollars otherwise. And to maximize how much you make from those images, you should check out Lumaprints.

Burning Questions: WTF is a Petzval Lens?
By Alberto Lima
August 14, 2025
Photographers and Cinematographers are enamored with creative ways to separate their subjects from their backgrounds. One such trick is to implement a "swirly" background effect that turns otherwise mundane scenes into something out of a dream. Although the swirly bokeh effect may be getting lots of hype these days, it's far from a new advancement in photography; we can all thank Hungarian mathematician Joseph Petzval for this creative and game-changing effect.

LUMIX S9 Review Update: This Camera Aged So Well
By Chris Gampat
August 14, 2025
The LUMIX S9 has recieved a few firmware updates, and so we've updated our full review. The other day when shooting with it, I realized that if you've got it, you've got very little reason then to want to get any of the new fancy point and shoot cameras that are being announced these days. Just stick a Leica M-mount lens on the S9, and you'll be insanely happy. At least I am!

The Big Lie About Bird Photography
By Chris Gampat
August 13, 2025
I remember watching a BBC special about photographers and how they're taking images in the wild. Specifically, one of the photographers say that in order to shoot good photos, you have to have the eye in focus. This is a big lie -- and it's often nearly impossible to do with today's cameras and with the way that birds move. Rarely do they often stay in one place if they're small. On top of that, their heads are usually obscured by leaves, branches, etc. If you tell your camera to focus on the bird's eye, it will probably end up focusing on the leaves in front of it instead. So what do you do?

Lomography Lomochrome Color 92 Review: The Past is Alive
By Chris Gampat
August 13, 2025
I began the review of Lomography Lomochrome Color 92 back in 2023 -- like most other film photographers these days, I took my sweet time developing the film. This is one that I didn't want to rush. This film is beautiful and embodies a look that I don't see often captured in digital. Yesterday, I published articles about film experiences that I wouldn't want to have again. But Lomography Lomochrome Color 92 is one that I truly can't wait to have again.

This Could Be The Only Lens You Need…If Manufacturers Weren’t Fooling Around
By Chris Gampat
August 12, 2025
The other day, I was thinking about having just a single zoom lens. APS-C cameras and Micro Four Thirds cameras have that with one of the best being the Tamron 18-300mm that we reviewed a while back. And the closest and best I've seen for full-frame is the Nikon 28-400mm and the Tamron 28-300mm. But why can't they go even wider? Manufacturers say that an 18-300mm lens for full-frame would be so big. However, I don't really think that it would be.
