The Flashpoint XPLOR100 Pro II TTL is a Joy to Use
by Chris Gampat
July 20, 2026
For many years, I've been really cautious of what I consider to be weaker flashes. When I'd see photographers use them at events, I'd kind of wince knowing that they'd have to do a lot of post-production afterwards to fix the lighting. But then we called in the Flashpoint XPLOR 100 Pro II TTL for a series of workshops that the Phoblographer is hosting. And honestly, I'm impressed. When I say that it mostly replaced my Profoto B10, I'm not kidding.

The obvious answer to the question of 35mm vs 28mm lens choice is whatever suits you; but the issue is that sometimes photographers require input from others. What Happens When You Put a Sandwich Bag Over a Lens?
by Chris Gampat

This article is chaos. The photographs in this article are chaos. And the world is chaos. If you're looking at the lead image and squinting at it to understand what you're seeing, then know that it's partially mimicking my eye condition. It's called kerataconus, and it's only part of the issue with how I see the world. I created these images just by putting a plastic sandwich bag over a lens. For years, photographers did things like put sheer tights over lenses to get a look. And this is no different. But in a world where all the brands out there are trying to make everything super-sharp and AI is mimicking the look and output of those lenses, I wanted to make something inherently human.

A Trick to Make Your Flash so Much Better
by Chris Gampat
July 19, 2026
One of the absolutely most underrated light modifiers is the Umbrella Reflector. Typically used to hold an umbrella in place and provide more stability when attached to a monolight, they can also take the light output from strobes and monolights, give it a specific conical direction and soften it. For many years, however, these flash modifiers were limited to monolights and hot shoe flashes couldn't really enjoy the benefits. But for what it's worth, many hot shoe flashes have been designed with radio transmission as of late and were primarily intended for off-camera use.
