Jamel Shabazz Shares His Untold 9/11 Story

By Chris Gampat

September 11, 2025

"Please pardon me for the delay," the mythical man known as Jamel Shabazz says to me in an email. "I had surgery on my back a couple of weeks ago, and I am in recovery right now." Uncle Jamel, as I call him in emails and messages to others as a sign of respect, is absolutely still a man all about uniting people together and sharing love as he ever was. Recently, I had to dive back into our archives to find stories that we've written about Jamel. He asked me to be the person to write an essay to accompany his exhibit happening at the Hofstra Museum. And while going through the several interviews this website has done with him, I uncovered a tale that still needed to be told.

One of the Greatest, Affordable Digital Cameras Canon Ever Made

By Nilofer Khan

September 10, 2025

When one talks about Canon's iconic cameras from yesteryears, they will certainly be greeted by models such as the AE-1, the F-1, the 5D series, and the 1-DX series. These devices, in many ways, have changed Canon and made it reach the stature it has today. However, while we applaud the obvious wins, there are some models that continue to show how the company found success by bridging the gap between technology and affordability. An example of this is not the 5D, but another device: the 6D. Here's a look at what made it so special.

By Nilofer Khan

September 10, 2025

With newer technology, camera manufacturers are improving sensor resolution with each model. However, the more pixels a camera has, the more costly it is. While some photographers are okay using full-frame 20MP devices, there are some who want a little more. So, for these users, we have created a list that looks at 30MP range cameras created over the years. These include DLSRs as well as mirrorless devices. Let's dive in.

How Fujifilm Could Really Change the Compact Camera Market

By Chris Gampat

September 10, 2025

When the Fujifilm GFX100Rf was released, I was in awe of how wonderful and awesome the camera is. And folks have been asking Fujifilm for more compact cameras. They've already got the X100VI and the X Half. But it occurred to me that Fujifilm could do yet another one. I'm not talking about the return of the X 30 series, or the other retro Fujifilm cameras. But let's entertain the idea that they took the viewfinder away from the GFX 100RF and stripped it down to be even smaller.

September 10, 2025

Camera sales reports have been showing a changing trend. Since the launch of mirrorless cameras, DSLRs have become obsolete, and their shipments are facing lower value. On the other hand, mirrorless cameras are taking control with every company going after them. Per the latest data from the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA), the company saw a massive shift in July 2025. Here's a quick recap.

September 9, 2025

For most photographers, one of the hardest decisions when traveling is what gear to pack. From camera bodies to lenses to lighting options, packing for a trip is often one of the biggest anxiety-inducing elements of travel for me.
