Everyone’s Favorite Panasonic Cameras are Due for a Refresh
by Nilofer Khan
April 14, 2026
Panasonic has seen a pivotal shift in their brand. The company was once catering only to small sensor users, but in more recent years, they have begun to sit at the big players' table. Today, the LUMIX brand is recognized for its L-mount alliance, and many professionals are quietly leaving other brands to purchase L-mount cameras. It now appears that as the brand's popular LUMIX lineup is turning 25 this year, the company may have some plans to celebrate it. Have a look.

Where I’d Like the Phoblographer to Go
by Chris Gampat
April 14, 2026
In 2025, I started to do things that otherwise would seem crazy for a publisher of a niche photography online magazine to do. For starters, this year, the Phoblographer may actually make a printed magazine again. But in addition to that, we didn't sell any ads to the big camera manufacturers. It really showed me that if everyone even gave $1 to read FOR THE YEAR, we'd make enough money to be able to grow and sustain the site for a very, very long time. But that's really tough to ask. Eventually, I'd like to site to move away from needing and relying on banner-ads. Instead, I want the site to go fully super-affordable subscription eventually.

Canon EOS R5 in 2026: Why Does Everyone Hate It?
by Chris Gampat
April 14, 2026
When the Canon EOS R5 II was released, I was insanely suspicious. Seemingly, everyone was praising it as the best camera in the world like the Canon EOS R5 was suddenly rendered useless. In fact, I called it the camera equivalent of catfishing. And still to this day, I wonder about this. Why does everyone hate on this camera? In truth, I think that it's because Canon tends to spend money on flying YouTubers and influencers to do their bidding. But Phoblographer gave up press trips many years ago. So I steadfastly believe that I'm a lot more level-headed on this. And more importantly, I'm probably one of the only journalists who's preached that Canon robbed photographers of one of the best features they had for years.

The Single Best Point-and-Shoot for Street Photography Today
by Nilofer Khan
April 13, 2026
Street photography is a genre that allows one to document their surroundings as and when it unravels. While there are multiple cameras that one can choose from, from full frames to Micro Four Thirds to point-and-shoot, each often comes with its own challenges. For some, form factor is of importance, but for others, it is that as well as a higher resolution sensor. If you are someone who is looking to buy something similar, then there is one option from Fujifilm that can be of help: The Fujifilm GFX 100RF.

While there is no confirmation of what may come next, a new report reveals that the company may introduce a super telephoto lens soon. What could it be? Let's have a look.

10 Years Ago, the Sony a99 II was Incredible. Is it Still Capable?
by Chris Gampat
April 13, 2026
In 2016, I reviewed the Sony a99 II -- and I really fell in love with the camera. It was the last good use of the Minolta A-Mount and it really felt like something special at the time. Packed with just enough technology to really give photographers what they needed to make great photographs, it helped Sony step on Canon and Nikon like the conquered victims of the Goddess Kali. To this day, it's probably the only Sony camera besides the Rx1 series that has really held its value.
