Why Fujifilm’s 180MP GFX Plan Has Photographers Arguing
by Nilofer Khan
January 21, 2026
Photographers love the pixel war. However, in recent years, it has been shown that megapixels are important but not as significant as the camera's speed, features, or lens system. This is why, when reports surfaced that Fujifilm was developing a 180MP medium-format sensor, many photographers were not too happy. Here's why.

If You Care About Real Photographs, Stop Scrolling Past Them
by Chris Gampat
January 21, 2026
For many years, journalism offices have had issues with wanting to publish graphic images of war and such. They'd often say that the readers don't want to see the images. The truth is, however, that they need to. And without those photographs, progress doesn't happen, wars don't stop, and the world doesn't change. Photojournalists are often held back from doing their job because the world wants to be entertained to death.

Nikon Z500 – Now Or Never?
by Feroz Khan
January 21, 2026
For nearly a decade, a part of the Nikon community has been waiting eagerly. They have waited patiently, loudly, and often of late - with frustration. Seeking a mirrorless successor to the D500, hope for a mythical Nikon Z500 that will finally give crop sensor shooters the validation they believe Nikon owes them. With so many capable Nikon Z bodies already available, why are they still holding out for such a camera?

In a world so riddled with AI slop and sloppy content churned out for clicks, the only way to make real human voices heard is to shout from every corner; RSS feeds, newsletters, social media or even messaging apps like Telegram. For those who haven’t heard yet of this nifty little app, Telegram is kind of similar to WhatsApp except where it matters, such as AI not being embedded in the app or not belonging to Meta. It’s got a fairly impressive user base, with over 450 million daily active users — that’s a sixteenth of the world population, just so you know.

Just Use the Center Focus Point. This Try
by Chris Gampat
January 20, 2026
I've looked at my portfolio of work over the years in the same way that so many of you sometimes do. When I look back, I realize how good some of the work I did is still. But on top of that, I also know that I've also seen how I've changed the way that I shoot. Mirrorless cameras and modern autofocus make taking photos so insanely easy and more or less brainless. And the sweet spot was during the days of early mirrorless when the only good autofocus point was the center. Essentially, that's how Fujifilm cameras more or less still work today.

Canon Eyes Ultra-Wide F1.4 Lenses as New RF Patent Emerges
by Nilofer Khan
January 20, 2026
Canon lenses have been great every step of the way. The company has introduced models such as the 85mm f1.4L, the 28-70mm f2.8, and the 100-400mm f5.6, which have offered a great range to different genres of photographers. However, per the new patent, the company is keen to work on more wide-angle options, which could be ideal for hybrid shooters. Here is a look at what to expect.

The Feature Missing from Modern Cameras We All Forgot About
by Chris Gampat
January 20, 2026
The staff and I at the Phoblographer can get pretty bored playing with what feels like the same camera over and over again. It feels like when you peer into the viewfinder, we're all just getting the same experience over and over again. What's more, they're all getting really boring because none of these cameras stand out. With that said, I wish that we brought back a missing feature: the optical viewfinder.

Nikon: You’re Going to Make a Huge Mistake
by Chris Gampat
January 20, 2026
Originally, I was slated to write an article telling Nikon photographers to stop worrying about what others say about them on social media. And that they should focus more on making actual good photographs instead of the camera brand nationalism that the marketing big-wigs make us endure. But when I really thought about it, Nikon sometimes does some really stupid things for being such a smart and enduring company. What I'm talking about this time is how they're possibly going to hurt their business by going after Viltrox.
