By Alberto Lima

June 16, 2025

When a pitch comes in claiming to be the new king of portraits, you are going to get my attention, especially when it comes from a manufacturer that has been absolutely dominating in a space where much higher-priced options seem to reign supreme. I hope the Viltrox AF 85mm F1.4 Pro FE will bring that level of quality and affordability to Sony FE mount cameras.

Viltrox 85mm f1.4 FE Review: You Don’t Need the G Master

By Chris Gampat

June 16, 2025

You know, most disappointed that I've been by a lens in the past few years has probably been by the Sony 85mm f1.4 II G Master. The original wasn't good enough to make me want to upgrade from the 85mm f1.8 FE. And the second version showed barely any difference at all except in the bokeh. But today, Viltrox is announcing the brand new Viltrox 85mm f1.4 FE. This lens, in so many different ways, is exactly what the G Master should've been. And if you're looking for some really gorgeous image quality, this is the lens to consider.

Harlowe and Mark Mann Make the Light Peter Hurley Never Made

By Chris Gampat

June 16, 2025

Today, Harlowe is introducing a limited edition lighting set done in collaboration with photographer Mark Mann. Immediately, when you look at it, the light elicits some very fascinating thoughts. It reminds me a lot of the lighting that Peter Hurley used to do, but adds even more roundness to it. It also looks a whole lot like a ring light, but it's far more complex than that. If you're a headshot photographer, this might be the kit you want to get.

By Nilofer Khan

June 16, 2025

German brand Rollei, previously known as Rolleiflex, is one of the most prominent manufacturers in the analog world. Founded in 1920, the company's twin-lens reflex camera has been quite a sensation among film users. However, over the years, the company has changed names and owners, and with Rollei GmbH & Co. KG being finally adopted in 2015. While they have licensed the name Rollei to Mint, who creates 35mm film cameras, they are largely into creating tripods, lights, and, quite recently, lenses. With the announcement of its first mirrorless lenses for Nikon and Sony, Rollei is trying to be a part of the mirrorless digital world. But will it work? Let's take a peek.

The One Camera Feature Fine Art Photographers Will Love

By Chris Gampat

June 16, 2025

It's finally here! My absolute favorite thing to do in-camera has finally come and I couldn't be more excited. For so many years, I've always been in awe of photographers who can do multiple exposures in-camera and make them look really great. On top of that, I'm always in awe of their ideas and how ethereal the images feel. Most importantly though, I think that multple exposure photography is the single best way for photographers to stand out from generative AI in ways that truly make us separate and tap inro our emotional capabilities. And thankfully, LUMIX cameras have the ability to do it in-camera and also make a RAW file.

Are 3D Cameras the Next Step in the Evolution of Photography?

By Nilofer Khan

June 15, 2025

The evolution of photography has been quite exciting. From exposing photosensitive paper and glass to the creation of stereoscopic cameras to the invention of 35mm cameras, the photo world has seen some extraordinary creations. However, over the last few decades, we have seen so many exciting innovations from a Brownie to a disposable camera to the creation of digital, particularly smartphones and mirrorless. Now, anybody can pursue photography as a hobby, and the trillions of images in the digital void are an example of that. Which makes one wonder -- what could be the next step in the evolution of the medium? The more we think about it, the more we realize that a 3D camera could be our calling.

Fujifilm is having one of the most exciting years in the camera industry. We have seen them launch three new cameras, two of which are true innovations in the world of photography. In fact, quite recently, we found a new patent hinting at full-frame lenses, suggesting that Fujifilm is thinking differently for its future. However, it has now come to our attention that the said patent could also hint at the revival of one of the most popular cameras from the company, the TX series.
